No Oil Yummy Chicken Lollipop

20181215_174709-1

Wash the chicken pieces (Lollypop), I buy the antibiotic free chicken lollipops and always soak them in turmeric and salt mixed water for 10 to 20 minutes to remove all the unwanted chemicals if any from it. If it’s fresh from your own house or country fouls no need to do this. I buy them ready-made from supermarkets or farm.

Ingredients

  1. Chicken lollypop – ½ kg
  2. Chili Powder – 1 Tea-spoon
  3. Turmeric Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  4. Pepper – ½ Teaspoon
  5. Corn Flour – 1 Table-spoon
  6. Cumin (Small Jeera) powder – 2 Pinches
  7. Curry Leaves – 5
  8. Ginger – 2 inch piece
  9. Garlic – 5 cloves
  10. Rock Salt – To taste
  11. Lemon Juice – 1 Teaspoon
  12. Chicken Masala -1 Table Spoon (Cinnamon, Cloves, Saunf (Big Jeera), Illicium  (star anise), Cardamom)
  13. Coriander Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  14. Small Onion – 4

Preparation

20181215_210729-1After washing, drain off all the water.  Take Chilli Powder, salt and turmeric powder mix with lemon juice, apply well to the chicken pieces and keep for 15 to 20 minutes.  Then take curry leaves, garlic, small onion, ginger, pepper corns, coriander powder and chicken masala (I use homemade chicken masala which I always prepare and stock; ingredients are given above; if you have no chicken masala and want to use the above spices take 2 of each, cinnamon 1/2 inch piece and Saunf – 1 table-spoon then powder or make paste adding little water) grind all these and make a paste and add it to the meat and apply well. I put some pepper just whole to get a different flavor. Mix the corn flour with little water and make a thick paste.

Get a frying pan ready and roll each lollypop in the corn flour and place in pan without touching each other. Wash whatever masala is in mixer grinder jar with ¼ cup water and pour in the pan.  If any corn flour or masala are remaining in the bowl, pour little water and get them all out of bowel; pour in the pan. Place the pan on slow fire and cook the chicken covering with a lid.  When one side is fried well and turns golden in color; fry the opposite side too. And your yummy, mouth-watering, healthy lollypops are ready to consume.

20181215_214530-1 It’s so delicious that your family will love and thank you for making it.  Try this recipe to celebrate the upcoming Christmas or and New Year. I tell you it’s too delicious to leave without trying.  If you make it once you will always want to make this no oil lollypop. You get 12 lollypops in ½ kg pack. The celery and carrot which I used to decorate for taking photo was put in the pan later with the lollypop still piping hot and kept it covered for 20 minutes and they were cooked as it is and I enjoyed them with lollypops and some multigrain bread.

Let me share with you a tiny secret; I didn’t know chicken lollypop could be made without oil.  I kept the pan on the stove after keeping all the ingredients above and went to do some work thinking once the water gets dried would pour in oil. But when I came back after 20 minutes to see if the water was over, to my great surprise found the chicken already in oil. So I just turned them and found one side well fried and was very happy to save oil as well as have a healthy dish of lollypop without mixing vegetable oil. They say vegetable oil and animal fat should not be mixed together; so this is prepared only in animal fat. 20181215_215801-1-1
