When Time Fades

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Writing and reading, for sure. Both of those activities have a way of pulling me in completely, like they create their own little universe where time just fades into the background.

When I’m reading, it’s like stepping into another world. The characters, the storylines, the emotions—they all become so vivid that everything around me blurs. The sound of a ticking clock or the hum of my surroundings simply fades away, leaving me fully immersed in the book. Hours pass, unnoticed, as I’m lost in someone else’s world, and when I finally look up, it feels as if no time has passed at all.

Writing has the same kind of magic. It starts with a few words, and then, before I know it, I’m wrapped up in the flow of thoughts that seem to come from nowhere. The rhythm of my fingers on the keyboard becomes almost meditative, and the world outside of the page just ceases to exist. It’s like I’m living in the very moments I’m writing about, and time bends, stretching into something that feels both eternal and fleeting at once.

With both activities, it’s not about escaping reality—it’s about losing myself in a world that exists only in that moment. A world where time doesn’t matter, where the present is all that matters.
