What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?
Lately, I’ve been asking myself: What’s one small improvement I could make in my life? Not a major overhaul—just something manageable, a step in the right direction.
And after some thought, I realized the answer is staring me right in the face: get more sleep.
Now, as an author and writer, late nights are almost a given. My mind is often buzzing with ideas, words flowing as I work to meet deadlines or flesh out the next chapter of my story. There’s always just one more sentence to write, just one more paragraph to perfect, and before I know it, hours have slipped away.
It’s not that I don’t love these moments—there’s something magical about the stillness of the night when the world is quiet, and my thoughts are free to roam. But the price I pay is clear: the next morning comes too soon, and I’m left feeling drained, not just physically, but mentally as well.
I know the solution is simple: go to bed earlier. Prioritize rest, even when my creative drive is pushing me to stay up a little longer. Waking up earlier would give me the chance to get a head start on the day, maybe even carve out some extra time to write with a fresh mind, without feeling like I’m running on empty.
It’s a small change, but I know it could make a big difference. I haven’t fully committed to it yet, but I’m ready to make the shift. A little more sleep could mean a lot more clarity, energy, and perhaps even more productive writing sessions in the long run.
The question is, can I find the balance between my late-night writing sessions and the rest my body needs? I’m about to find out.
