The furthest I’ve ever traveled from home was to Malaysia—a journey full of color, flavor, and unforgettable experiences. From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in a vibrant blend of cultures, delicious food, and breathtaking sights.
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Genting Highlands, a beautiful mountain resort perched high above the clouds. Getting there was an adventure itself—I rode in an aerial cable car, gliding above the lush rainforest, watching the mist rise below. The cool mountain air and the scenic views made it feel like a dream.
At the top of Genting, I stayed in a hotel that had a buffet offering cuisines from all over the world—Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, European, and Indian dishes all in one place. It was a food lover’s paradise! I was especially excited to try sushi, a Japanese dish I had always heard about and wanted to taste. But when I tried it, I was surprised—and honestly disappointed. The sushi was made with raw fish, and I couldn’t manage to eat it. Only later did I learn that it’s meant to be eaten with soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger, which balance the strong flavor. Without them, the taste of raw fish was just too much.
What I did enjoy the most was the variety of sweet dishes—they were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I probably spent more time at the dessert counter than anywhere else!
Another unforgettable experience was visiting the Batu Caves, home to the majestic Murugan Temple. The giant golden statue at the entrance was stunning, and the climb up the 272 narrow steps was both tiring and thrilling. What made it more adventurous were the cheeky monkeys along the way—ready to snatch bags or food if you weren’t careful. I was honestly a little scared, but it just added to the excitement.
Malaysia gave me memories I’ll never forget—from sky-high adventures and cultural wonders to global flavors and sweet treats. It was truly my farthest journey—and one of my most special.
