Some moments in life don’t just pass—they stay with you, quietly shaping who you become. One such moment in my life was meeting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and even more incredibly, capturing that moment in a photograph that I will always treasure.
Like millions of others, I admired Dr. Kalam not just for his accomplishments—as a scientist, a visionary, and the President of India—but for his unwavering humility. Despite holding some of the highest positions in the country, he remained deeply grounded. He was a man of science, a man of faith, and above all, a man of the people especially the youth.
I first truly connected with his journey through his book ‘Wings of Fire‘. Reading it was a turning point. His words lit a fire within me—the way he rose from modest beginnings, faced failures head-on, and still dared to dream big struck a chord deep in my heart. That book didn’t just inspire me; it made me believe that no dream is too big if your heart is in it.
Then came the unforgettable day—I had the rare chance to meet him in person. Though the meeting was brief, it felt monumental. We spoke for just a few moments, but what stayed with me was his calm presence, his kind eyes, and the genuine warmth in his words. And yes, I had the incredible honor of taking a photograph with him—a frame that captures not just a handshake or a smile, but a moment of deep inspiration.
Looking at that photo even today gives me a sense of pride, gratitude, and motivation. It reminds me of the values he stood for—integrity, hard work, simplicity, and service. It reminds me to keep dreaming, just as he encouraged us all to.
Dr. Kalam once said, “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.” That message is etched in my heart forever. His life was a testament to what’s possible when you combine vision with dedication.
Thank you, Dr. Kalam—for the dreams you planted in so many of us, for the path you showed, and for that precious moment I was lucky enough to share with you.
Thank you.
