Is Sustainability a Lifestyle or a Mindset?

Yes, absolutely. Every day, I make conscious choices that help me live more sustainably—not just for the planet, but for my own well-being too. I begin my day early, even if it means sacrificing a bit of extra sleep, because waking up before the rush brings clarity and energy that carries me through the day.

But I’ve come to realize that sustainability isn’t just about what I do—it’s about how I think. It’s a mindset first. When I start approaching my daily routine with awareness and intention, sustainable habits follow naturally.

My yoga and meditation practice are perfect examples. They help me stay present, and that presence spills into how I eat, how I clean, what I consume, and how I treat others. I choose nutritious, wholesome food not just because it’s healthy, but because I’m more in tune with my body and the energy behind what I eat. Living simply and moderately isn’t a rule I follow—it’s a value I live by.

Cleanliness is another deeply rooted part of my day. I keep my home and surroundings tidy because I believe a clean space nurtures a clear mind. Personal hygiene is something I honor, with two baths a day being part of my rhythm—not out of habit, but out of respect for myself and those around me.

And no matter how busy the day gets, I always spend some time in nature. Whether it’s a walk, quiet observation, or just sitting outdoors, it helps me recharge, reconnect, and remember that I’m part of something larger.

So, is sustainability a lifestyle or a mindset? For me, it’s both. But it starts in the mind. The way we think shapes the way we live. And when we shift toward mindfulness, sustainability stops being a task and becomes a natural way of being.
