What We Love to Eat

What are your family’s top 3 favorite meals?

If I had to narrow down our absolute top three family meals, the first one that comes to mind is our unexpected appam and paneer tikka fusion. While appam is typically a gentle dish, we use its soft, fluffy center and wonderfully lacy edges as the perfect base for the smoky, spicy, and bold flavors of paneer tikka. It’s that combination of gentle sweetness and intense spice that has surprisingly become our signature dish, working beautifully for breakfast, dinner, or any spontaneous craving. When we crave something truly hearty, our ultimate comfort meal is egg biryani. The fragrant, layered rice, the warm spices, and the sheer celebration of flavors when you layer in the soft-boiled eggs and caramelized onions just fill the house with irresistible warmth. On busy nights, we swap it out for simple, satisfying veg fried rice, which is quick, colorful, and always a winner. Finally, no family food story is complete without a sweet tradition, and for us, that’s the rich, moist, and wonderfully uncomplicated hug of our Irish cake. It has become a cherished dish, and it’s the kind of dessert that tastes like pure coziness—it simply never lasts long after it comes out of the oven!

These three meals—our fusion, our comfort, and our sweet tradition—really capture the spirit of our family table.
