My Journey from Science to Stories

What was your favorite subject in school?

When I think back to my school days, Biology always stands out as my favorite subject. I loved observing plants, insects, and animals — every leaf, wing, and movement fascinated me. Nature felt like a living classroom, and I was eager to learn its secrets. Experiments were my favorite part. I still remember the thrill of dissecting frogs, insects, and even chickens. Those moments made me feel like a real scientist, uncovering the mysteries of life one layer at a time.

However, as much as I loved Biology, the strict marking system and the limitations of the educational structure made it difficult for me to continue with it. Grades and rigid expectations often overshadowed genuine curiosity. Eventually, I had to take a different path and chose English instead.

But life has its own way of connecting things. Studying English literature opened another world for me — a world of imagination, emotion, and stories. While Biology helped me understand life itself, literature helped me understand the people who live it. Both subjects, in their own way, taught me to observe, feel, and explore — one through science, the other through words.

Even today, I carry that same curiosity I once had in childhood. Whether I’m reading a poem or admiring a butterfly, I realize that both science and art are different languages trying to express the same wonder — the beauty of life.
