A Small Gesture

Lately, I found myself staying in a place where the bathrooms were shared. It wasn’t a big deal, but it made me more aware of how our small habits affect the people around us. After using the bathroom, I made it a point to clean up carefully—wiping down surfaces, making sure nothing was left messy, and leaving it the way I’d want to find it.

No one asked me to do it. No one saw me do it. And I didn’t need them to. It was just a simple thing—a quiet courtesy for the next person who would walk in.

I usually prefer not to speak about things like this. Kindness, in my view, loses something when it’s spoken too loudly. But since I’ve been asked to write about it, I’ll simply say: even the smallest acts, when done with care and without recognition, carry their own quiet dignity. And maybe, just maybe, they make someone else’s day a little easier—without them ever knowing why.
