In high school, one of the most cherished things I learned was embroidery. It wasn’t just about stitching threads together—it was about patience, creativity, and expressing oneself through art. I vividly remember making a cushion cover with hand embroidery, featuring a bouquet of flowers cradled in a hand. Around it, I embroidered my name in bold, arch-shaped letters, adding a personal touch to the piece.
What made this project even more special was the recognition it received. My teacher was so impressed with my work that she took it to the staff room, where all the teachers admired it. But she didn’t stop there—she proudly showcased it in her classes to inspire other students. The appreciation I received was overwhelming, and it felt incredibly rewarding to have my work acknowledged in such a meaningful way.
But the story doesn’t end there. My mother had it stitched into a cushion cover, and it became our family’s Bible stand for years. Even as I grew older, got married, and moved out, that cushion cover remained in the same spot, proudly holding our Bible. Over time, the colors faded, and the fabric grew old, but its significance never did. It was more than just embroidery—it was a symbol of my childhood, my creativity, and the love and encouragement from my school and family.
Even today, that memory lingers in my mind, reminding me of the simple joys of learning, the profound impact of encouragement, and how some things—like a piece of embroidered fabric—can hold a lifetime of memories.
