There’s something about the way kids respond to questions that’s just downright hilarious. It’s like they live in their own little world where logic and imagination collide in the best ways possible. When I ask them simple questions, and their answers never fail to crack me up—because, to them, their responses make perfect sense!
For example, once I asked a little one, “What do you think the clouds are made of?” without skipping a beat, he looked at me and said, “Cotton candy. But not the yummy kind. The fluffy kind you can’t eat!” I tried to keep a straight face, but I couldn’t help but laugh at how serious he was about it.
Then, there was a time I asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. I was expecting something like a doctor, teacher, or astronaut. But no—without hesitation, he said, “A unicorn. Because they’re magical and have really cool hair!” I was floored. Kids have this incredible ability to turn the simplest questions into moments of pure comedy.
It’s the raw, unfiltered honesty and creativity of kids that make their answers so funny—and so refreshing. I don’t think there’s anything more entertaining than the wild and wonderful world of a child’s imagination. This is what makes me laugh whenever I talk to them. But they are serious of course.
Have you ever asked a child something simple, only to get the funniest, most unexpected answer? If so, I’d love to hear it!

Nothing is ever simple when you ask a child something.
Because they don’t just answer – they imagine.
They see the world through a magical lens,
One that fades slowly with age,
Replaced by caution, logic, and life’s bruise –
Until they, too, become adults.
