Why I Compare Myself to an Eagle?

Daily writing prompt
Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

I’ve always felt a deep connection to eagles—majestic, powerful, and free. Whenever I think about my journey in life, I can’t help but compare myself to an eagle that soars high above the ground, effortlessly scanning everything below. There’s something about the eagle’s keen vision, its ability to rise above the noise and see things from a perspective most of us never even consider, that resonates with me. Just like an eagle, I aim high, trust my instincts, and believe there’s so much more to life than what meets the eye. It’s as if I have this quiet, almost unspoken ability to sense things—things before they happen, patterns before they form, and truths before they’re spoken.

I like to think of myself as someone who isn’t afraid to fly higher, to rise above and see the bigger picture. Eagles can spot a tiny rabbit from miles away, and I often feel like I’m just like that—seeing things that others might miss. It’s not just about physical sight; it’s about perception, understanding the subtle cues that surround me. Whether it’s a glance, a gesture, or a feeling in the air, I have this strong sense of awareness that allows me to read between the lines and pick up on the things that often go unnoticed. It’s a unique gift, one that I’ve learned to trust over the years. Sometimes, when I speak or make predictions, people look at me like I’ve been told something in secret. But, in reality, it’s just that inner sense guiding me, like the eagle that always knows where to fly.

Growing up, I often felt like an eaglet among chickens—different from the rest, never quite fitting in with the crowd. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate what was around me, but I always knew that there was more to life than what I was seeing. Just like an eagle is meant for the sky, I felt like I was meant for something greater, something beyond the ordinary. While others may have been content to stay close to the ground, I yearned for more—more freedom, more adventure, more of the world to explore. That’s when I started trusting my instincts more, listening to that quiet voice inside that told me to look beyond the obvious and take that leap.

There are times when I’ll speak about something or offer an insight, and people seem stunned, as though someone has whispered the answer in my ear. But in truth, it’s just intuition. It’s that deep feeling I get when something isn’t quite right or when I can sense the path ahead. Much like the eagle’s ability to spot a change in the wind before it takes flight, I’ve learned to trust my gut and the signs around me. I don’t always know how or why I know, but I do. And that’s given me a sense of confidence and clarity I’ve come to rely on.

Looking back, I realize that comparing myself to an eagle isn’t just about ambition or the desire to soar higher. It’s about trusting in my vision, my intuition, and my ability to see things others may overlook. Life has a way of teaching us to trust ourselves, to embrace the unique gifts we possess, even when others don’t quite understand them. Like the eagle, I might sometimes feel like I’m alone, soaring high while others stay grounded. But I know that’s exactly where I’m meant to be—up in the sky, seeing the world in a way only a few can. If you, too, feel like you’re meant for something more, trust that you have the vision to rise above, to follow your instincts, and to soar. The world is waiting for you to spread your wings and see it from new heights.
