On my inaugural day at the Medical College, excitement and curiosity bubbled within me. Having previously worked in a school office, stepping into the vast realm of a prestigious institute brought a unique blend of anticipation and anxiety. The challenge was heightened by the fact that many of the esteemed doctors and the Dean were not well-versed in my mother tongue, making effective communication an interesting aspect to navigate. The opportunity to converse in English became a valuable skill, and I found myself constantly refining it.
In this new environment, I was entrusted with numerous administrative responsibilities, sharing this responsibility with only the Dean’s secretary who, like me, possessed proficiency in English. The workload was substantial, keeping me engrossed up to my neck in tasks. However, I approached each duty with eagerness and determination. It was a joy to handle the responsibilities, and I took pride in completing them with precision.
The sense of accomplishment was magnified when both the management and staff acknowledged and appreciated my efforts. This validation fueled my enthusiasm further, making my initial experience at the Medical College not just about adapting but excelling in my role. The camaraderie with colleagues, the challenge of effective communication, and the satisfaction of a job well done marked my memorable first day at work.
