How do you manage screen time for yourself?

I try to manage my screen time by being intentional about when and why I use my devices. I’ve realized that it’s easy to lose track of time scrolling or switching between apps, so I set daily limits using my phone’s Screen Time settings. This helps me stay aware of how much time I actually spend online.

I make sure to create boundaries around my screen use. For example, I avoid using my phone during meals or right before bed, since I’ve noticed that too much screen time at night affects my sleep. I also like to keep my mornings free from social media so I can start the day more calmly and with focus.

To reduce distractions, I keep most of my notifications turned off and check messages only at specific times. I also try to replace unnecessary screen time with more meaningful activities like reading, writing and studying. These moments away from screens help me feel more balanced and present.

Sometimes, I reflect on how my screen habits make me feel. If I notice that too much online time leaves me tired or distracted, I take it as a reminder to step back. Managing screen time isn’t always easy, but I’ve learned that being mindful and setting small, realistic goals makes a big difference.
