Science vs. Superstition

While I can’t be superstitious, would like to untangle the science from tradition in my beliefs.

• Vastu vs. Superstition: Vastu Shastra can be a design philosophy that emphasizes harmony and balance in living spaces. While some aspects lack scientific backing, principles like proper ventilation and sunlight alignment have proven benefits. Keeping the head on certain directions while sleeping is not superstition but is important for circulation.
• Horoscopes and Predictions: These I read and listen to are purely for entertainment. Astronomy, the scientific study of celestial bodies, can tell us a lot about the universe, but I don’t believe it can predict our future though when someone predicts 10 things one thing may happen for someone somewhere. In my opinion, its like throwing stones on a mango tree.

Let’s explore the science behind our intuition:

• Nature’s Influence: Since we are part of the nature seasonal changes and weather patterns can definitely affect our mood and energy levels. Sunlight regulates our sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythm), for instance.
• Moon’s Effect: The moon does influence tides, but its impact on human emotions is debatable. If you feel a connection, it might be a cultural or personal association, not a direct effect.

It’s understandable to seek meaning and connection in the universe. Science offers explanations, while traditions can provide comfort. So we can accept the wonder of the cosmos, but be mindful of what’s scientifically proven and what’s cultural belief.

Perhaps we can find joy in the beauty of the night sky without relying on horoscopes for predictions. Appreciate nature’s influence while acknowledging the science behind it.

I personally like to listen to various predictions and superstitions and test the reality, but don’t believe it.
