Daily writing prompt
What does your ideal home look like?

My ideal home is a modern interpretation of a Nalukettu, blending traditional charm with contemporary comfort. Here’s a glimpse of what it would look like:

The house would feature a Nalukettu-style design with a central courtyard, showcasing the essence of Kerala architecture.

Bedrooms: There would be three bedrooms, each designed with closets and attached bathrooms for optimal comfort and privacy.

Study cum Library Room: A dedicated space for study and reading, providing a serene environment for intellectual pursuits.

Courtyard Oasis: The central courtyard would house a small swimming pool and a tank for cultivating fishes, surrounded by a lush garden to maintain privacy.

Living Room: A spacious living room for relaxation and entertainment, designed to maximize natural light and ventilation.

Kitchen: The kitchen would be strategically placed to have a clear view of both the front and back of the house, ensuring convenience and safety.

Storage and Work Area: Ample storage space, a dedicated work area, and a small cooking and washing area for daily chores.

Maid’s Quarters: A comfortable room and restroom for the housemaid, ensuring her well-being.

Car Porch: A concealed car porch on the side of the house, keeping the vehicles hidden from view.

Sit-Out: A small sit-out area near the entrance where guests can be entertained without entering the main house.

Landscaped Garden: The property would span ten to twenty cents of land, enclosed by stone walls and adorned with well-trimmed grass and various fruit trees and bushes.

Tiled Courtyard: The courtyard would be tiled with a low wall to prevent mud from entering the tiled area.

Solar Lighting: Solar lights would be strategically placed around the house, providing energy efficiency and security.

Security Cameras: Hidden cameras would enhance security and surveillance around the property.

Well and Public Water: A well would provide clean drinking water, complemented by a public water connection from the Panchayath.

Outhouse: An additional room and toilet for drivers or other visitors, ensuring their comfort and privacy.

Dog Cage: A dedicated area for pets, like a dog cage, would be situated on the side of the house with all around visibility.

Washing and Drying Area: A closed area behind the house for washing and drying clothes, shielding them from the elements.

This dream home would combine the best of traditional aesthetics, modern amenities, and thoughtful design, creating a harmonious and comfortable living environment for my family.
