Ube or white yam and purple yam… unearthed some yam to make an evening snack for tea…. replacing bakery items … just tested to see if its ready…. this is the root of a creeper… its really yummy along with green chilli and onion chutney…. a very healthy snack….fresh and organic. Planted in March during Covid 19 lockdown days.
- Ube (Kachil/Kavath) – 1 or 2
- Curry leaves – 2 stems
- Salt – To taste
- Water – 2 cups
Skin the Ube with a knife or peeler, wash well with clean water and slice them into desired shapes. Put in a pressure cooker adding salt, water and curry leaves. Wait for 2 or 3 whistles switch off the stove and let it cool. Remove from the cooker and drain the water, empty the Ube into a serving bowl. Serve hot along with chutney.
Take 3 or 4 green chillies, 10 small onion and salt. Smash them with a small stone or with any instrument but don’t grind in mixer grinder. add some coconut oil and dip pieces of Ue in the chutney and eat. Enjoy the lovely pungent kick along with some black coffee or tea.
